Description

“Ivano-Frankivsk region” is the most colourful magnet in the series, worked in six bead colours.

What the picture shows

The outline is small and almost square, with curved edges and a sharp spur at the upper right. The ground is dark, nearly black, and the beads read especially brightly against it: pink, light blue, green, yellow, white and red. The motifs are tiny — flowers of five or six beads, short chains, single dots — scattered across the whole field the way they are in Hutsul embroidery. Two hundred and eighty-four beads lie loosely, with the dark print showing everywhere between them, and it is that print which holds all the colour together. A broad gold cord closes the composition at the edge and adds one more warm tone to the piece.
