Description

“Dnipropetrovsk region” is a long diagonal outline with a black and red ornament.

What the picture shows

This is one of the largest magnets in the series: 118 mm wide, with a distinctive wing at the upper right and a narrow spur on the left. The ground is a pale check printed on the canvas, where every stitch of the chart is easy to see. The ornament is built from black diamonds and crosses, red squares and groups of three white beads, while bands of transparent red beads run along the diagonal and catch the light differently from the matte ones. Six hundred and eighty-four beads in four colours cover most of the surface but not all of it: the print stays open and works as the ground. A gold beaded cord runs around the perimeter, holding the edge and keeping the silhouette crisp. The elongated shape makes the magnet easy to read from across the room.
