Description

“Chernivtsi region” is the smallest piece in the series, just 152 beads.

What the picture shows

The outline is long and narrow, with a sharp tip on the right and a small spur at the top. The colours are unusual for the series: black, lime green and golden beads lie in short rows over a mottled print mixing grey, white and lilac. The ornament is simple — vertical stripes, chains and single crosses — which is why the whole piece can be stitched in one evening. One hundred and fifty-two beads in three colours leave most of the canvas open, so the printed pattern underneath shows clearly. A gold cord along the edge holds the narrow shape.
