“St. Zacharias” — a monastic saint in his habit, a prayer rope on his chest. An icon in a muted olive-green range.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown to the waist, frontally. A dark green monastic hood edged with a pale blue ornament covers his head; the beard is long and reddish-fair. The mantle is olive-green with a fine pattern, and a lilac-pink undergarment shows at the cuffs. A pale blue prayer rope of small beads hangs on his chest. The right hand is raised before the chest, the left a little lower, palm to the viewer. The halo is golden, of several rings. The beading is partial: beads cover the figure, the hood, the mantle, the prayer rope, the halo, the corner rosettes and the border, while the cream background with its printed scrollwork stays painted on the canvas.
