Icon Bead Embroidery Pattern on Art Canvas "St. Vsevolod"
Description
«St. Vsevolod» shows the holy prince in warm terracotta robes. The composition is simple and solemn, with no superfluous detail.
What the picture shows
The prince stands frontally, holding the hilt of a sword before him in both hands, its blade hidden in the folds of his clothing. On his head is a rounded cap with a fur band, embroidered in red, gold and white beads with small gemstones. His hair and beard are grey. The dress is built on warm brick-terracotta tones with gold bands along the edges, while the sleeves and lower folds are lined in bright turquoise — the one cool note in the whole piece. The halo is worked in rings of yellow and gold. The pale olive background with its printed leaf scroll stays unbeaded: beading covers the figure, the cap, the sword, the halo, the side ornament, the corner rosettes and the name cartouche. The coverage is partial. The face and hands stay painted — no beads are laid over them, which is why the image keeps its painterly softness.
