“St. Vladislav” — the holy prince in a jewelled crown and crimson princely robes. A warm icon dominated by red and gold.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown to the waist, turned slightly. On his head is a princely crown set with coloured stones; his face is young, with a short beard. A green-and-gold collar covers his shoulders, and below it falls a crimson-pink mantle densely covered with a small foliate ornament, with a green undergarment showing beneath. His hands are folded at the chest, an embroidered cuff at the wrist. The halo is golden, built from several rings. The beading is partial: beads cover the figure, the crown, the halo, the corner rosettes and the border, while the cream background with its printed scrollwork is left as printed on the canvas.
