“St. Vladimir” — the holy prince in a jewelled crown, holding a large cross in both hands.

What the picture shows

The prince is shown half-length, with grey hair and a white beard. A gold crown set with pink, green and blue stones rests on his head. His outer robe is dark green with a fine textured pattern, and a wide gold clasp with floral inlays lies at his breast. A pale blue cloth falls across his shoulder. In both hands he holds a large gold cross with flared arms. The halo is made of concentric rings of ochre and gold. A brown-and-gold foliate border frames the image, with rosettes in the upper corners and a cartouche below. The beading is partial: figure, robes, cross, halo and frame are beaded, while the cream printed background is left open.
