Icon Bead Embroidery Pattern on Art Canvas "St. Veniamin"
Description
“St. Veniamin” — the saint in bishop's vestments, wearing a mitre. The richest icon in this series in terms of colour.
What the picture shows
The saint is shown to the waist, looking straight at the viewer. On his head is a pale blue-and-white mitre with a small cross on top; a long chestnut beard frames his face. The vestment is olive-brown, patterned with squares holding crosses in pink, blue, green and red, with a narrow ornamental band along the edges. The right hand is raised before the chest, the left holds the edge of the robe. The halo is wide, built from yellow and golden rings. The beading is partial: beads cover the figure, the mitre, the halo, the corner ornaments and the border, while the cream background with its printed scrollwork stays unbeaded.
