Icon Bead Embroidery Pattern on Art Canvas "St. Tikhon"
Description
“St. Tikhon” — a waist-length image of the hierarch in a white klobuk, his right hand raised in blessing and a bishop's staff in his left.
What the picture shows
The saint stands almost face-on, his gaze directed straight at the viewer. A white klobuk with a small cross covers his head; a white-and-blue omophorion with small crosses falls over his shoulders, and dark olive-green vestments show beneath it. A panagia with a painted image in a gold surround hangs on his chest, with a second small cross beside it. The halo is worked in warm gold, amber and white and reads as a ring of light around the head. The background is a pale olive with printed leaf scrollwork; two fan-shaped motifs sit in the upper corners, narrow amber-brown bands run down the sides, and a cartouche in a gold surround closes the panel below. The beading is partial: beads cover the figure, the vestments, the halo and the whole frame, while the face, hands and patterned background stay as printed on the canvas.

The piece is vertical, the size of a small household icon. It suits a name-day icon for a Tikhon and anyone who wants calm work in a restrained, almost monochrome range. Choose beads of even calibre — on the white klobuk and omophorion any unevenness shows at once.
