Icon Bead Embroidery Pattern on Art Canvas "St. Tamara"
Description
“St. Tamara” — a waist-length image of the holy queen in a crown, with a cross and a small church in her hands.
What the picture shows
The saint stands facing forward, her head slightly inclined. She wears a tall crown set with red and green stones, and a white-and-blue patterned veil falls from under it over her shoulders. The outer robe is deep crimson, with green sleeves and a band of trim showing beneath. Her right hand holds a golden cross; her left supports a small domed church. The halo is worked in warm gold and amber tones. The beading is partial: beads cover the figure, the halo, the corner rosettes, the ornamental side border and the cartouche below, while the pale background with its printed leaf scrollwork stays exactly as printed on the canvas. The frame keeps to brown and gold: two fan-shaped corner motifs above, narrow bands of a repeating motif at the sides, and a dark cartouche in a gold surround below.
