“St. Savely” — the hierarch in bishop's vestments, holding a Gospel book. The icon is built on pale blue set against warm ochre.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown to the waist, frontally. His hair is fair, the beard long and wavy, his gaze direct. The vestment is pale blue with a large pattern, and over it lies a light brown omophorion marked with crosses. The right hand is raised before the chest in blessing, a string of coloured beads at the wrist; the left holds an ornamented Gospel book with patterning on its cover. The halo is golden, of several rings. The beading is partial: beads cover the figure, the vestments, the book, the halo, the corner ornaments and the border, while the cream background with its printed scrollwork is left unbeaded.
