Icon Bead Embroidery Pattern on Art Canvas "St. Roman"

“St. Roman” — an image of the young saint holding an unrolled scroll. Green and warm vermilion keep the composition light.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown half-length, beardless, with short curly hair. His dress is layered: a green tunic with a narrow ornamented band at the sleeve and a red-orange mantle wrapping the figure in broad folds; a blue ornamented edge of cloth rests on his left arm. His right hand is raised in blessing, while his left supports a large unrolled scroll filled with lines of text. The halo is golden with a pale centre and thin rays. The ground is cream with faint painted scrollwork; the border is dark brown, with diamonds, fans in the upper corners and an inscribed cartouche below. The fill is partial: beads cover the robes, halo and border ornament, while the ground, face, hands and the scroll with its text remain printed on the canvas.
