What the picture shows

The saint is shown to the waist, turned slightly. His hair is curly and grey, the beard short, his gaze off to the side. A wide green cloak with broad folds covers his shoulders and chest, a blue tunic showing beneath. Both hands hold a small pale scroll low before him. The halo is golden, built from several rings within a darker rim. The beading is partial: beads cover the figure, the cloak, the halo, the corner ornaments and the border, while the cream background with its printed scrollwork is left unbeaded on the canvas.
