“St. Oleg” — the holy prince-monk in ochre robes, held in a quiet honey-toned palette.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown half-length, almost frontally, with grey hair and a white beard. A pale hood patterned along its edge covers his head. His outer garment is golden ochre, falling in long vertical folds, and over it lies a light-green schema with rows of small ornament. In his right hand he holds a dark red prayer rope; his left hand rests quietly at his side. The halo is gold, built from concentric rings. A brown-and-gold foliate border runs around the edge, with rosettes in the upper corners and a cartouche below. The beading is partial: figure, robes, halo and frame are beaded, while the cream printed background is left open.
