Icon Bead Embroidery Pattern on Art Canvas "St. Nikita"

“St. Nikita” — a half-length image of the young saint with an open palm. Blue and golden ochre carry the whole palette.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown almost frontally: a young man with fair shoulder-length hair and a short beard. A blue cloak is thrown over his left shoulder and falls in broad even folds; beneath it is a golden-ochre tunic with fine patterning and a warm red trim at the neckline. His right hand is raised with the palm open to the viewer, his left pressed to his chest. The halo is golden-yellow, built from concentric rings with a pale centre. The ground is light cream with faint painted scrollwork. A dark brown border of diamonds and rosettes runs around the edge, with fans in the upper corners and an inscribed cartouche below. The fill is partial: beads cover the cloak, tunic, halo and border ornament, while the patterned cream ground, face and hands remain printed on the canvas.
