Icon Bead Embroidery Pattern on Art Canvas "St. Nazariy"
Description
“St. Nazariy” — a waist-length image of the holy martyr holding a gold cross in both hands.
What the picture shows
The saint is shown as a young man with chestnut hair and a short beard, turned almost face-on. He wears a red-crimson tunic with fine patterning, with a green cloak thrown over his left shoulder that falls in a broad fold. Both hands hold a tall gold cross with a turquoise inset at its centre before him. The halo is large, moving from orange and gold at the centre to pale yellow at the rim. The background is cream with printed leaf scrollwork, surrounded by a brown-and-amber ornamental frame with two fan-shaped corners above and a cartouche in a gold surround below. The beading is partial: beads cover the figure, the garments, the cross, the halo and the frame, while the face, hands and background stay as printed on the canvas.
