Icon Bead Embroidery Pattern on Art Canvas "St. Moses"

«St. Moses» shows the prophet with an open scroll. The figure is young and mobile, the colours warm, with a single turquoise note.

What the picture shows

The prophet stands half-turned. With both hands he unrolls a large white scroll whose text is worked in red and dark beads; the scroll takes up nearly a third of the field and is the main light accent. His hair is thick, curly and chestnut, his beard short. The outer cloak is a pink terracotta, with a turquoise-blue tunic showing beneath. The halo is assembled from rings of gold, yellow and warm ochre. The cream background with its printed leaf scroll stays unbeaded: beading covers the figure, the scroll, the halo, the side ornamental bands, the corner rosettes and the name cartouche below. The coverage is partial, and it is the printed ground that keeps the figure quiet. The face and hands stay painted — no beads are laid over them, which is why the image keeps its painterly softness.
