Icon Bead Embroidery Pattern on Art Canvas "St. Miron"
Description
“St. Miron” — a waist-length image of the hierarch in golden vestments, his right hand raised in blessing and a Gospel book in his left.
What the picture shows
The saint is shown as an elderly man with a high forehead and a long grey beard, turned slightly to the right. He wears a golden-ochre phelonion with fine patterning, and over it a white-and-blue omophorion with dark crosses and fringed ends. His right hand is raised in blessing; his left holds a Gospel book in a pink-red binding with a green stone and gold ornament. The halo is wide, from dense gold at the centre to a pale rim. The background is cream with printed leaf scrollwork; two fan-shaped corner motifs sit above, narrow brown-and-gold bands run down the sides, and a cartouche in a gold surround closes the panel below. The beading is partial: the face, beard, hands and background stay as printed on the canvas.

The piece is vertical, the size of a small household icon. It suits a name-day icon for a Miron. The whole range is warm and golden, so take several shades of ochre — otherwise the phelonion will come out flat in a single tone.
