Icon Bead Embroidery Pattern on Art Canvas "St. Macarius"
Description
“St. Macarius” — a grey-haired elder with a long beard and raised hands. The most restrained pattern in the series in terms of colour.
What the picture shows
The saint is shown to the waist, frontally. His hair is long and grey, the beard falls almost to the waist, the face is stern and concentrated. The robe is pale grey, almost white, with blue and red folds of clothing showing at the sides. Both hands are raised palms outwards. The halo is of yellow and golden rings with a darker outline. The beading is partial: beads cover the figure, the clothing, the halo, the corner ornaments and the border, while the cream background with its printed scrollwork is left unbeaded. Ten colours in all — the fewest in this series, so the work goes faster.
