Icon Bead Embroidery Pattern on Art Canvas "St. Ludmila"

“St. Ludmila” shows the princess in a jewelled crown, a cross held at her chest. It is the richest in colour of this series.

What the picture shows

The saint stands frontally in a tall gold crown set with stones of many colours, a light veil falling from beneath it. A lilac-violet mantle lies over her shoulders, and a wide gold band of ornament and beading runs down the front from the chest. The sleeves and the lower part of the garment are worked in turquoise and gold pattern. Her hands are folded at the cross. The halo is gold with a fine rim. The fill is partial: beads cover the figure, the crown, the mantle, the ornament, the halo, the border and the corner fans, while the cream ground with its printed scrollwork stays on the canvas. The edges carry a border of brown squares, amber fans sit in the upper corners, and a red name plate with a band of ornament closes the bottom.
