Icon Bead Embroidery Pattern on Art Canvas "St.Innokenty"
Description
«St.Innokenty» is a waist-length image of the bishop in full hierarchal vestments, quiet and concentrated. The whole icon is kept in a warm golden-ochre range.
What the picture shows
The saint stands almost frontally, in a tall mitre worked in white, red and gold with a small image at the front. The face is serious and calm, the beard long and ash-grey. The halo is laid out in concentric rings of gold, ochre and warm brown. The vestments are rich in shades: blue-and-white patterned fabric on one sleeve, terracotta and lilac folds of the sakkos, a panagia on a chain at the chest, and a pale cross rising beside the shoulder. The saint holds a white cloth. The pale olive background with its printed leaf scroll stays unbeaded: beads cover the figure, the halo, the side ornamental bands, the corner fan rosettes and the name cartouche below. The coverage is partial, and the painted ground works as a quiet field for the shine of the beads. The face and hands stay painted — no beads are laid over them, which is why the image keeps its painterly softness.
