Icon Bead Embroidery Pattern on Art Canvas "St. George"

“St. George” shows the young warrior in armour. It is the most contrasting icon of the series: red, blue and gold.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown to the waist, almost frontally, with dark curly hair and a calm, youthful face. He wears golden-olive armour of overlapping plates set with coloured stones; over it lies a crimson-red cloak, with blue sleeves showing beneath. His hands are lowered, the right resting near the belt. The halo is a wide circle of warm gold with a fine pattern. The fill is partial: beads cover the figure, the armour, the cloak, the halo, the border and the corner fans, while the cream ground with its printed scrollwork stays on the canvas. A narrow chequered border and two amber fans above frame the field, with a red cartouche at the bottom.
