Icon Bead Embroidery Pattern on Art Canvas "St. Faina"
Description
«St. Faina» shows the martyr with her gaze lifted. The tone is restrained, in a warm brick-and-pink range.
What the picture shows
The saint is shown to the waist, her head slightly turned and raised. A blue-and-white veil in soft folds, worked in pale beads, covers her hair. Her right hand holds a small dark cross at her breast, her left a rolled pale scroll. The outer garment is a pink terracotta in broad calm folds, with a blue sleeve showing beneath. The halo is assembled from rings of yellow, gold and warm brown. The cream-olive background with its printed leaf scroll stays free of beads: beading covers the figure, the veil, the cross, the halo, the side ornamental bands, the corner rosettes and the name cartouche below. The coverage is partial, and it noticeably keeps the whole composition light. The face and hands stay painted — no beads are laid over them, which is why the image keeps its painterly softness.
