Icon Bead Embroidery Pattern on Art Canvas "St. Eugene"

“St. Eugene” — an image of the venerable martyr in a pale blue veil, holding a cross. The mood is quiet, almost prayerful.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown half-length, her head slightly turned. A light blue patterned veil covers her head and shoulders and falls in long even folds to the hem. Beneath it a terracotta-red dress shows, over a lilac underlayer with dark trim. Her right hand is raised, palm to the viewer; her left holds a small gold cross on a slender staff before her. The halo is golden-orange, built from concentric rings with a pale centre. The ground is cream with faint painted scrollwork; the border is dark brown, with diamonds and rosettes, fans in the upper corners and an inscribed cartouche below. The fill is partial: beads cover the veil, dress, cross, halo and border ornament, while the ground, face and hands stay printed on the canvas.
