Icon Bead Embroidery Pattern on Art Canvas "St. Edward"

«St. Edward» shows the young holy king with a sword. The robe is pink and gold, the gaze quiet and concentrated.

What the picture shows

The saint stands frontally, holding a sword point-down before him in both hands: the blade is turquoise-blue, the hilt gold set with coloured stones. On his head is a tall pointed crown worked in gold, white and green beads. His hair is fair, his face young. The outer cloak is a coral pink with a gold band down the centre and a pearl border; a broad gemmed bracelet sits at his wrist. The halo is assembled from rings of yellow, gold and ochre. The pale olive background with its printed leaf scroll stays unbeaded: beading covers the figure, the crown, the sword, the halo, the side ornament, the corner rosettes and the name cartouche below. The coverage is partial. The face and hands stay painted — no beads are laid over them, which is why the image keeps its painterly softness.
