What the picture shows

The saint is shown to the waist, facing forwards with a slight turn of the head. He wears a princely crown set with stones, and a wide halo worked in rows of golden and ochre beads surrounds his head. A red cloak is thrown across one shoulder over a blue robe with a fine diamond pattern, with broad decorated shoulders and a cross at the centre of the chest. His right hand holds a short sword, while his left supports a white church with cupolas standing at the lower right. The ground is pale cream with a faint foliate pattern, and ornamental bands of arches and diamonds run along the top and bottom. The fill is partial: beads cover the figure, the vestments, the halo, the church and the ornament at the edges, while the face, the hands and the cream ground stay printed on the canvas.
