“St Cyrus” — a monastic saint with both hands raised in prayer. A quiet icon in blue and terracotta.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown to the waist, frontally. A blue veil worked in small beads covers her head and shoulders; beneath it falls a muted pink-terracotta robe in soft folds. Both hands are raised palms outwards in the gesture of prayer. Green vertical bands of the garment show near the lower edges. The halo is wide, of yellow-gold rings with a darker rim. The beading is partial: beads cover the figure, the veil, the halo, the corner ornaments and the border, while the cream background with its printed foliate pattern stays painted on the canvas.
