Icon Bead Embroidery Pattern on Art Canvas "St. Constantine"

“St. Constantine” — an image of the holy emperor in a crown, holding a sceptre. Crimson and gold make it the most ceremonial piece in the series.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown half-length and frontal. On his head is a tall gold crown set with green and red stones and edged with rows of pearls. His hair and short beard are grey. His dress is imperial: a crimson-red mantle with a broad ornamented shoulder piece and rows of pearls, a pale blue-lilac tunic beneath it, and a golden-ochre edge of the cloak falling at his left. In his right hand he holds a long sceptre topped with a cross; his left is pressed to his chest. The halo is gold with concentric rings. The ground is cream with fine scrollwork, framed by a dark brown band of diamonds, corner fans and an inscribed cartouche below. The fill is partial: beads cover the robes, crown, sceptre, halo and border ornament, while the ground and the painted face and hands stay printed.
