“St. Bogdan” — a waist-length image of the martyr with a small cross, in an ochre cloak over green garments.

What the picture shows

The saint faces forward, his eyes on the viewer. His hair and beard are chestnut and lightly waved. The cloak is ochre-brown with soft folds; beneath it is a green garment with a wide neckband trimmed in small flowers and gold. His right hand holds a small dark cross, while his left palm is raised and open. The halo is golden-amber, laid in several rows. The beading is partial: beads cover the figure, halo, corner rosettes, the ornamental side border and the cartouche below, while the pale background with its printed leaf pattern remains on the canvas as the backdrop. The field is finished in the traditional way: two corner fans above, side bands of fine ornament and a signed cartouche below.
