Icon Bead Embroidery Pattern on Art Canvas "St. Arseny"
Description
“St. Arseny” — a waist-length image of the hierarch with a staff, in a blue monastic hood and lilac-pink vestments.
What the picture shows
The saint faces forward: a white beard, a calm and level gaze. His head is covered by a blue hood topped with a gold cross. Over the lilac-pink sakkos lies a pale blue omophorion marked with large gold crosses. An oval panagia in a gold setting hangs at his chest, with white and red bands of trim below. His right hand is raised in blessing; his left holds a tall golden staff with a shaped finial. The halo is golden, edged with rows of small beads. The beading is partial: beads cover the figure, halo, corner rosettes, side border and cartouche, while the pale background with its printed leaf pattern stays in print. The frame keeps to brown and gold: two fan-shaped corner motifs above, narrow bands of a repeating motif at the sides, and a dark cartouche in a gold surround below.
