“St. Anna” — the saint in a blue veil, her hands folded before her breast.

What the picture shows

She is shown half-length in a deep-blue veil that falls to her shoulders and frames her face with a fine line of pearls. Her outer robe is terracotta-russet in soft folds, with a lilac undergarment showing beneath. Her hands are folded before her; a slender gold rod rests in the left, and a small gold cross on a rolled scroll shows near her shoulder. The halo is gold, made of even concentric rings. The edge carries a brown-and-gold foliate border with rosettes above and a cartouche below. The beading is partial: figure, veil, robes, halo and frame are beaded, while the cream printed background stays on the canvas.
