Icon Bead Embroidery Pattern on Art Canvas "St. Alevtina"

«St. Alevtina» is a waist-length image of the martyr with a cross, kept in soft pinks and greens.

What the picture shows

The saint stands frontally, holding a slender long-shafted cross in her right hand. A pale pearl veil worked in white and cream beads covers her head and shoulders, and a broad band with a fine checked pattern in white and green lies across her chest. The outer cloak is a pink coral shading from pale to saturated, with a grass-green dress beneath. A gold bracelet is at her wrist. The halo is assembled from rings of yellow, gold and warm brown. The cream-olive background with its printed leaf scroll stays free of beads: beading covers the figure, the veil, the cross, the halo, the side ornamental bands, the corner fan rosettes and the name cartouche below. The coverage is partial. The face and hands stay painted — no beads are laid over them, which is why the image keeps its painterly softness.
