«Icons „St.Vera, Nadegda, Lubov and their Mother Sophia“» is a multi-figure image: a mother and her three daughters, each named on a small plaque.

What the picture shows

Sophia stands at the top centre in blue robes and a white headcloth, an open book on a lectern before her. Below and to either side stand the three daughters: on the left a young woman in a terracotta-red cloak holding a cup; at the front centre the youngest, in pale lilac, holding an open scroll with lettering; on the right a young woman in a pink dress and blue cloak, also with a cup. All four haloes are worked in coloured circles, and a small inscribed plaque sits above each figure. The ground is light, with blue sky at the lower edge, and the figures stand on stony earth. The wide border carries a blue-and-yellow geometric ornament with a shaped arch at the top, and an inscribed plaque along the bottom. Coverage is partial — the figures, haloes, book, scroll and border ornament are beaded, while the light ground and the scroll text stay printed.
