«Icon St. Panteleimon» shows the young healer-saint with his medicine box, in a green and gold palette.

What the picture shows

Saint Panteleimon is shown half-length and frontal, youthful and beardless. He wears a rose-red tunic with a green cloak over his left shoulder, the edges trimmed with rows of small circles. In his right hand he holds a slender spoon, in his left a medicine box patterned in blue and white and marked with a cross. A green necklace lies at his throat. The halo is worked in pale pearl circles with small flowers, set against a gold ground beneath a green arch. The wide border carries green plaitwork on a pale green field, with pink flowers and yellow rosettes at the corners. Coverage is partial — the figure, halo, box and border ornament are beaded, while the gold ground and the pale green field of the border stay printed.
