«Icon of the Mother of God of „Tenderness“» shows the Mother of God with hands crossed at her breast and eyes lowered.

What the picture shows

She is shown half-length, head slightly inclined, hands folded at her breast. A pale green headcloth with white edging covers her hair, and over it lies a light-blue mantle in broad folds, with a red dress visible beneath. The face is painted in soft light tones, the gaze downcast. Behind her head the halo comes in two parts: a pale disc and a large eight-pointed star in ochre-yellow and gold, its rays reaching upward and out to the sides. The ground is a warm beige-ochre with a faint pattern. The wide border is brown-russet with a diamond ornament and small coloured insets, and a light inscribed plaque runs along the bottom. Coverage is partial — the figure, the halo with its star and the border ornament are beaded, while the beige ground stays printed on the canvas.
