Icon Bead Embroidery Pattern on Art Canvas "Home iconostasis «Nicholas the Wonderworker»"
Description
«Home iconostasis „Nicholas the Wonderworker“» shows the bishop-saint in a mitre holding the Gospel — the third panel of a home iconostasis.
What the picture shows
Saint Nicholas is shown half-length and frontal. A tall blue mitre set with white pearls and gold trim rests on his head, and his beard and hair are worked in silver-white tones. He wears a pale sakkos patterned in ochre and light blue, with a broad omophorion of crosses over it; a large panagia with red and green stones hangs on a chain of small circles. His right hand is raised in blessing, his left holds a Gospel book in a blue cover studded with coloured stones. The halo is a wide disc of ochre and green bands on a pale yellow ground. The border is built from russet and blue ornamental panels, with an inscribed plaque at the bottom. Coverage is partial — the figure, mitre, Gospel, halo and border panels are beaded, while the yellow ground with its scrollwork stays printed.
