“St. Zinaida” is a saint in a red maphorion, with a cross and a gold casket.

What the picture shows

The figure is shown to the waist, the face young and fine, the gaze lowered. A red maphorion covers her head and shoulders, the beads following the diagonal of the folds. Beneath it is a gown in turquoise-green, the brightest cool patch in the group. In her right hand she holds a small gold cross; in her left, held against her body, a gold casket set with green and red stones. The halo is gold, the ground cream with an embossed scroll. Red against turquoise is the sharpest contrast in the row. The beads fill the maphorion, the gown, the casket, the cross and the halo, while the face, the hands and the ground stay printed on the canvas.
