Description

«St. Yaroslav» shows the prince holding a white church with blue domes — the only image in the batch with architecture in the hands.

What the picture shows

Yaroslav is shown to the waist in a tall crown set with coloured stones. He has a fair beard and long hair. The dress is the most decorative in the batch: a blue mantle with large gold-and-pale-blue ornament, a yellow-ochre caftan with a fine pattern beneath, and gold cuffs. In both hands he holds a model of a white church with blue domes and crosses. The halo is golden, with a beaded ornamental arch and the name cartouche above. Face, hands and the embossed ground remain printed — the beading is not solid.
