Description

“St. Vyacheslav” is a prince in a gold crown, with a cross and a bound book.

What the picture shows

The figure is shown to the waist, with a short dark red beard and a level gaze. The crown is gold, with points and small stones; behind it stands a broad golden halo. Under the red cloak a blue tunic shows in even folds — blue and red split the field almost equally. In his right hand he holds a gold cross; in his left a book in a red-and-gold binding with a lozenge inset. The ground is cream with an embossed scroll and beaded fans in the upper corners. The beads fill the cloak, the tunic, the crown, the cross, the binding and the halo, while the face, the hands and the ground stay printed on the canvas.
