Description

«St. Vsevolod» shows the holy prince with a staff; the patterned crimson mantle fills almost the whole field.

What the picture shows

The prince stands frontally, grey-bearded and moustached, his gaze calm. On his head is a round crown-cap worked in gold beads with green and red stones. The mantle is crimson with a fine plant pattern and gold banding at the edges, a pale blue lining showing beneath. In both hands he holds a staff topped with a cross. The halo is wide and golden, with a beaded ornamental arch and the name cartouche above. Face, beard and hands remain printed, as does the embossed ground — the beading is not solid.
