“St. Vladimir” is a prince in a crown holding a large cross before him.

What the picture shows

The figure is shown to the waist, with a long grey beard and a level gaze. A gold crown with a pearl rim and dark stones sits on his head. The dress is princely: a green robe dense with gold embroidery, a wide jewelled band across the shoulder, and a pale blue cloak over it. Both hands hold a tall gold cross raised towards his right shoulder. The halo is gold, the ground cream with an embossed scroll; beaded fans fill the upper corners and a plaque above carries his name. The beads fill the robe, the band, the cloak, the cross and the halo, while the face, the hands and the ground stay printed on the canvas.
