Description

“St. Victor” is a martyr in a red mantle with a small cross at his chest.

What the picture shows

A young man shown to the waist: short dark hair, a wedge-shaped beard, a lowered gaze. He wears a bright red mantle over both shoulders, with a violet-blue tunic showing below on the left. His right hand holds a small pale cross at his chest, his left pressed lower against it. The halo is gold and broad; the ground is cream with an embossed foliate scroll and beaded fans in the upper corners. There are only thirteen colours in the kit, and nearly all of them go into the red and the violet. The beads fill the mantle, the tunic, the cross and the halo, while the face, the hands and the ground stay printed on the canvas.
