Description

«St. Veniamin» shows the metropolitan in a white klobuk: hierarch's vestments, the Gospel and a cross in his hands — the most detailed dress in the series.

What the picture shows

The saint stands frontally in a white klobuk with a cross on the brow; a fair beard falls to his chest. The vestments carry the densest beading: a blue-and-red omophorion with gold crosses, a pectoral cross and panagia over it, white ribbons with red stripes hanging at the sides. His right hand holds a blessing cross, his left a patterned bound Gospel. The halo is golden, with a beaded ornamental arch and the name plaque above. Face and hands stay printed on the canvas, and the cream ground with its embossed scrollwork is left unbeaded — the beading is not solid.
