Description

«St.Thomas» shows the apostle with a scroll bearing his own words: «My Lord and my God».

What the picture shows

The apostle is shown young and beardless, with short chestnut hair. A red himation is thrown over his shoulder, a green tunic beneath. His right hand is raised to his chest with two fingers joined; in his left is an open scroll with Church Slavonic lettering running downwards. The halo is golden with a warm gradation, and above it a beaded ornamental arch and name plaque. Face, hands and the scroll text remain printed on the canvas, as does the cream embossed ground — the beading is not solid.
