“St. Tamara” is a queen in a crown and white veil, holding a church and a cross.

What the picture shows

The figure is shown to the waist in royal dress. A red-and-gold crown with a pearl rim sits on her head, with a long white veil falling from it to her shoulders. The gown is red with broad folds, green cloth showing beneath. In her left hand she holds a model church with a red roof and a gold dome; in her right, raised to the shoulder, a small gold cross. The halo is gold, the ground cream with an embossed scroll. Red, white and green are laid out in large fields, so the icon reads well from a distance. The beads fill the crown, the veil, the gown, the church and the halo, while the face, the hands and the ground stay printed on the canvas.
