Description

«St. Taisiya» shows the nun in monastic dress: hands folded on her breast and a quiet, muted palette.

What the picture shows

The figure is shown to the waist, head slightly bowed. She wears a blue hood; over it an ochre-brown mantle falls in broad soft folds, and a green tunic with a narrow blue band shows beneath. Her hands are folded on her breast, right over left. The whole composition rests on three colours — blue, olive green and warm brown — while the golden halo and the beaded ornamental arch above add the shine. Face and hands remain printed, as does the cream ground with its embossed scrollwork: the beading is not solid.
