Icon Bead Embroidery Kit on Art Canvas "St. Roman"
Description
“St. Roman” is a young deacon holding a long unrolled scroll.
What the picture shows
The figure is shown to the waist, the face young and beardless, the hair short and dark. The dress is festive: a green vestment thick with jewelled embroidery across the shoulders and chest, and over it a dark red mantle thrown across the left shoulder. His right hand is raised with two fingers joined; his left holds a long pale scroll that falls almost to the lower edge, carrying a Church Slavonic text in small lettering. The halo is gold, the ground cream with an embossed scroll. The beads fill the vestment, the mantle, the embroidery and the halo, while the face, the hands, the lines of the scroll and the ground stay printed on the canvas.

At 230×300 mm the icon is noticeable without crowding a shelf. The beads are sewn on one at a time, in rows running the same way, so the surface lies flat and catches the light evenly across the whole piece. The frame in the photograph does not come with the kit — it is picked separately to suit the room.
