Description

«St. Praskovya» shows the great-martyr in a blue jewelled crown, with a cross and an open scroll.

What the picture shows

The saint stands frontally, her gaze direct. On her head is a crown worked in blue and white beads with separate stones — it holds the whole upper part of the composition. A crimson maphorion falls over her shoulders, a blue gown with gold trim beneath. Her right hand holds a slender cross, her left an open scroll with Church Slavonic text. The halo is golden, with a beaded ornamental arch and name plaque above. Face, hands, the scroll text and the embossed ground remain printed — the beading is not solid.
