Description

«St. Platon» shows the martyr with long hair, in a violet cloak over blue dress, holding a cross and a scroll.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown to the waist, almost frontally. Long chestnut-red hair falls to his shoulders, his beard short. A violet cloak is thrown over his shoulder, blue dress with broad folds beneath, crossed diagonally by a gold-and-orange patterned band with red insets. His right hand holds a pale cross, his left a rolled scroll. The halo is golden, with a beaded ornamental arch and name plaque above. Face and hands stay printed on the canvas, as does the cream embossed ground — the beading is not solid.
