«St. Pauline» shows the woman monastic with an open scroll; a blue veil with red crosses sets her apart from the other female images here.

What the picture shows

The saint stands frontally. A blue-violet veil edged with small red crosses covers her head. Over it lies an ochre-orange mantle in soft folds, with a green gown beneath. Her left hand holds an open scroll with Church Slavonic text, the right is raised with an open palm. The halo is golden, with a beaded ornamental arch and name plaque above. Face, hands and the lettering of the scroll remain printed on the canvas, as does the cream embossed ground — the beading is not solid.
